Meet George Lister

George Lister was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and later lived in New York City, then Killington, Vermont He now shares his time in San Francisco and Mt Shasta, California.  His career has included leadership roles in business as well as work in teaching and writing.

George’s relationship with writing began early. As a freshman in college, he discovered a natural ability for composition and received encouragement from professors who recognized his talent for thoughtful and reflective storytelling.

Years later, determined to refine his voice, he enrolled in Stanford University’s online course Writing the Memoir. The experience proved transformative. He continued taking additional Stanford writing courses and was selected as one of only twelve writers invited to participate in the prestigious Stanford-sponsored Djerassi Writers Retreat.

His short story Welcome to New York was accepted and published by Free Spirit Press in April 2023, marking an important milestone in his writing journey.

George writes with a clear purpose: he loves telling the truth. Writing, for him, is a way to explore memory, reflection, and the deeper meaning behind life’s experiences.

The inspiration behind Dogs, A Love Story is simple and personal. It comes from a lifelong admiration for dogs, their intelligence, loyalty, presence, and their extraordinary companionship with humans for thousands of years.
